Welcome to Quit onQ
Explanation of service:
An SMS messaging program called Quit onQ:
Quit onQ sends you several SMS messages each day free of charge, designed to help you through the process of quitting smoking. These start as soon as you sign up, and continue for about a month (on average), or until you tell them to stop.
More information
Quit onQ is an interactive program, designed to send you messages that are appropriate to your current situation. To get the most out of Quit onQ, you should keep the program up-to-date with your progress, such as if you set a quit date, if you quit, or if you start smoking again. It’s easy to do this – we will send you the codes that Quit onQ recognises on a card (you can also download the card from this web site). For example, simply text ‘Q’ to let Quit onQ know that you have quit, and ‘R’ if you return to smoking.
On the card, you will also find codes you can use to request ‘emergency’ help if you’re struggling with cravings. There are codes for a range of situations, for example ‘STRESS’ and ‘BORED’.
When you sign up, you will customise the number of messages you get per day, and when the first and last messages of the day are sent. These settings can be changed at any time at www.QuitSA.org.au/Quit onQ - simply log in with your username and password. You can also use the website to send the codes, if you can't use your phone to do so (such as if you are out of call credit).
You are free to stop the messages at any time, by texting the word 'STOP'.
Online Registration
The following registration process will allow us to tailor the Quit onQ service to you. To do this we will ask you a few questions about your current and past smoking behaviours along with some questions about yourself.
The registration process should take about 5 to 10 minutes to complete.
